Etamar Beglikter (b. 1977, Israel) earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. He has presented his works at solo exhibitions in museums and galleries in Israel and around the world. His works have been included in many collections, including the Israel Museum.
Etamar Beglikter works with what’s already out there—old Hebrew encyclopedias, symbols of Israeli mass culture, and everyday objects that reflect life in Israel. These items carry stories, and his art reshapes those stories, offering a way to critique, reflect on, and honor Israeli culture all at once.
There’s humor and a touch of cynicism in his approach, but it stems from a deep connection to the roots of Israeli life. He focuses on symbols we all recognize—those that evoke memories of the “good old times.” By repurposing them, he raises questions about what has changed and what has remained the same.
