Yaron Steinberg (b. Jerusalem, Israel) is a contemporary artist and illustrator who works in a wide variety of mediums and techniques. His unique personal style stems from thoughts about nomadic life, architecture and our relationship with the world around us.
Steinberg graduated from the Department of Visual Communication, Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design Jerusalem (2011), and also participated in student exchange at VSUP University in Prague, Czech Republic.
His professional career began as an illustrator for the animated TV show “Zack & Quack” on the Nick Jr. channel (2011-2013). Afterwards, he served as a lecturer in the study abroad program at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem (2014-2019). In his work, he has taken part in many projects, including as an illustrator for “Pirate Kings” / Playtika (2019-2020). Since 2020, Steinberg has served as a lecturer and the director of the foreign studies program at Tel Hai Academic College in Kiryat Shmona.
Steinberg’s artistic work has been presented at many group exhibitions, including the “Chamber of Curiosities” at the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art (2012), “Pacha Kocha” at Hangar 11 Tel Aviv (2013), “Point of Contact” at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem (2015) and “The Brain: In Art and Science” at the Bundeskunsthalle, Bonn, Germany (2022). In 2022, he presented a solo exhibition called “City/Time/Space” at Barbour Gallery, Jerusalem. Notable artist residency programs include “The Block” at Liebling House – White City Center, Tel Aviv, Israel (2023), “War Diary” at the Factory Gallery, Jerusalem (2023) and the JAR (Jaffa Artist Residency) Program in Old Jaffa (2024). Steinberg’s work has been noticed and featured in various publications such as Ynet.co.il, Calcalist.co.il, Woostercollective.com, dw.com, Wired.com, Etapes.com and IdN magazine, which have showcased his multifaceted talent and creative influence in the artistic community.

I am a multidisciplinary artist working in a wide range of mediums and techniques, such as painting, sculpture, ready-made, and more. The urban space serves as an inexhaustible source of inspiration for me. Houses and streets have intrigued me since childhood, and as a teenager, I spent many hours wandering the alleys of Jerusalem. Paul Auster, Sophie Calle, and Georges Perec were my guides, infusing the streets with imagination and hidden stories. I create worlds through architectural models of an alternate reality where memories and fiction coexist. Imaginary glass cities built from writing utensils, an architectural model simulating a brain with dozens of cardboard houses and a toy train passing through, and a return to the familiar territory of Israeli housing complexes — each representing ever-changing worlds. In my artwork and research, I aim to create a platform to describe my inner world and its relationship to the surrounding world. I study time and space, seeking moments between the starting point and the final destination, the random points hidden on the map. I strive to merge personal identity with the unique identities of the cities, places, and people I encounter. Collecting fragments of memories along the way, I reassemble stories, places, and houses I've experienced or imagined. The city, in its various components, serves as a platform for observing my inner world and its interaction with the outer world. I have also begun using architectural terms to describe ideas, feelings, and emotions. For example, my work "The Brain/City" is a model of an imaginary city as a human brain. This artwork features dozens of cardboard houses with a toy train passing through the neighborhoods, accompanied by recordings of various memories and inner voices in the background.
