Ronen
Sharabani

Ronen Sharabani (b. 1974), lives and work in Tel Aviv. Sharabani is an internationally-known, multidisciplinary Israeli artist who works in diverse mediums of painting, sculpture, and video installations.
His art explores ritual, struggle, and faith, together with cultural, economic and political values as the gateways for a transformational experience. Sharabani’s video works and installations blend movement, performance, architecture and light into intensely visual and sensory probes which simultaneously take both a secular and spiritual form. Works in the public sphere hold a dominant place in Sharabani’s work, since this modus operandi enables a sudden, unexpected encounter with the viewer, bestowing the allure of freshness that enables a reexamination of point of view. The aspiration towards such engagement with the viewer is evident in all of Sharabani’s works.

As an artist, I the starting-point for forming my works is my daily life experience. I may not be able to control my reality, but I can decide how I interpret it. Living in such a fast-paced environment puts me on unstable ground that can shake any theory, tradition, and authenticity imaginable. My goal is to put "reality", as I experience it, onto the canvas in my studio, to bring all my questions to surface, and to discuss them through my works.
