The view from the roof of a small boutique hotel in Tel Aviv reflects the reality of Tel Aviv during the later stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, as evidenced by the emptiness of the streets.
A closer look reveals the architectural characteristics of the White City — buildings with International Style motifs on the right side of the piece, together with features of the city’s modern renewal — cranes and tunnel excavation machines building the light rail, featured in red on the left side of the piece. In the background, the buildings of Tel Aviv’s business center can be seen.
Upon closer inspection, the fabric of the city’s life and culture is revealed — people strolling through the streets, a car parked in the middle of the street, and people walking on the road.
