Navigating the Art World Today

FRIDAY | SEPTEMBER 20th, 2024   |   11:00AM - 1:00PM

Please join James S. Snyder, Helen Goldsmith Menschel Director of the Jewish Museum, New York, and Hillit Zwick, Executive Director of Artis, for a conversation on how museums and arts organizations in the U.S. are navigating these uniquely complex times. They will discuss their experiences working with contemporary artists in Israel and talk about the important potential of the visual arts as a platform for cultural diplomacy across the Middle East.

Kabbalat Shabbat

FRIDAY   |   SEPTEMBER 20, 2024   |   5:00PM - 7:00PM

Join us for an exciting event, where art, history, and culinary tradition come together. The event will be led by the exhibition's curator, Keren Bar Gil, and she will be joined by Jake Cohen, a New York Times bestselling cookbook author. Keren, whose great-great-grandfather invented the bagel in 18th century Poland, and Jake, a proud Jewish chef and author of Jew-ish, will explore the profound connections between Jewish culinary traditions and their cultural significance across generations. Together, they will discuss how these baking traditions have influenced artists, as we showcase a variety of artworks centered on bread and baking. Don't miss this special opportunity to celebrate the intersection of art, tradition, and Jewish culinary legacy at this unique Kabbalat Shabbat gathering.

ArtUps

SATURDAY   |   SEPTEMBER 21, 2024   |   11:00AM - 1:00PM

Join us for ArtUps, an event featuring five talented Israeli artists and designers, each delivering a dynamic 8-10 minute presentation. These talks will explore the fascinating intersection of reality and imagination, showcasing how art creates spaces that inspire empathy, reflection, and human connection. The session highlights powerful visual storytelling, touching on themes such as memory, discovery, and the essence of the human experience. Through their unique perspectives, these artists demonstrate how art can slow us down, allowing us to rediscover beauty in life’s significant moments, even during challenging times.
